Dan McBride
Meet Professor Dan McBride! Mr. McBride grew up in Benton, Kentucky which is a small rural town with a population of about 1,500 in the western part of the state near where the Ohio and the Mississippi Rivers join.
During the summers of his college years, Dan worked as a resident counselor on a ranch living in western style bunk-houses teaching all aspects of ranch life such as horsemanship, grooming and caring of horses, camping and rodeo skills. He graduated from Murray State University in Kentucky with degrees in business, health, physical education and physiology. After college he was a director and administrator for the YMCA working in several facets of the organization.
His primary duties were with teenagers and ‘at-risk’ youth. Later, he implemented exercise physiological laboratories with corporations for their employees in Los Angeles.
Prior to becoming a college professor Mr. McBride spent many enjoyable years as an actor performing in plays, television and movies. He appeared for 5 years on the popular television series 'Little House On The Prairie'. Among other performances he co-starred in the movie 'Killing Stone', guest-starred on 'Highway To Heaven', 'Young Maverick', 'Yellow Rose of Texas’, ‘Flo’, etc.
Professor McBride has taught health sciences for nearly 40 years at several colleges, including, California State University-Los Angeles, University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), West Los Angeles College, Los Angeles City College, Los Angeles Mission College, and East Los Angeles College. He has taught online classes for over 25 years.
